About Me

Welcome to my blog! I am currently a senior at Montclair State University; studying to become an art teacher. Art has played a very important role in my life. Everyone has their favorite down-time activity; when you have had enough for one day and just need to do something that calms you…. My activity is making art. Usually I sketch, paint, snap photos, or make jewelry. You can probably guess what my favorite school subject is by now, and I have my art teachers to thank for that. Growing up, I have had wonderful art teachers who supported me, and taught me the importance of art. It is a form of expression. I am a firm believer that everyone has a say, and one way to get a point across is through art. Someday, I wish to teach students how to express themselves through different mediums of art. They are taught to write and speak in all their other classes, but getting a point across visually can be a struggle. Even though it is difficult, visual expression through art can be so much fun for them! I have already noticed this when I substitute teach in my district. Students always seem engaged in any assignment where they get to use creativity. There have been times throughout my time at Montclair where I was uncertain I wanted to teach, but once I started subbing, my worries just disappeared. Plus, it’s great practice!! Now I can not wait to be a teacher, and teach my own art classes.
